TVs and laptops aren’t the only things on sale for Cyber Monday. Several airlines offer deals on future fares so this is a great time to save on a vacation. After a slow summer, airlines are looking to attract more passengers with budget fares so be on the lookout for flash sales. Experts recommend searching the carriers for those flash sales starting at 9 a.m. Monday and going through the week. Airlines are looking at a slow travel period and unsold fares, so those flash sales should be worth checking out.
The best way to deal with low fare promotions is to be flexible about your dates. If you have a wider window of possible travel dates, you’re more likely to find a fare that suits both your needs and your budget. Also, be realistic. Don’t expect to find discount fares around major holidays or events like JazzFest, the Super Bowl or Spring Break.
Here are three airline sales to look for on Cyber Monday.
Delta’s fare sale started on Black Friday and continues through Cyber Monday. This sale covers domestic travel between December 16, 2016 and June 27, 2017. This sale ends at midnight, November 28, and you have 24 hours to cancel if you find a cheaper fare elsewhere. Obviously, you’re not likely to score a low fare on a trip around Christmas time but this could be worth checking out if you’re considering an off-season vacation or family visit.
For overseas travel, Emirates has a low-fare sale going now through midnight Monday night that offers deal on flights for these days only: December 1-9, January 5-March 29 and April 6-June 30. Emirates also has a two-for-one travel sale that ends at midnight and is good for January 9 through October 14, 2017.
Alaska has a sale going on now but there’s no word on when it will end. This sale is aimed at families that want to get away after the Thanksgiving holiday. Sample fares include Los Angeles to San Jose, Puerto Rico from $149 one way, Seattle to Atlanta from $139 one way and San Diego to Salt Lake City from $74 one way.

It’s easy to get caught up in all the fun of bargain hunting on Cyber Monday but nothing ruins that fun like getting hacked. It’s way too easy for scammers to get their hands on your credit card info and go on a shopping spree at your expense. Here are some tips for staying safe online.
Scan your computer for viruses before shopping
Make sure no malware is lurking in your system, ready to snatch up your personal information and share it with scammers. Malwarebytes is good for this task.
Shop using the apps from stores
The most popular Cyber Monday destinations like Amazon and Walmart have their own smartphone apps that can be used to order from their sites. Using these will likely be safer than using your computer.
Don’t presume you’re safe using your office computer
There’s no guarantee that the computer you use at work is any safer from scammers than the one at home. Besides, you don’t want to get caught shopping on company time!
Don’t use public wi-fi
It’s much easier for scammers to hack into your account when you’re using a non-secure connection. Do not access any of your financial information or enter credit card numbers while using public wi-fi. If you find the perfect item while browsing on your computer at Starbucks, find a safer connection to buy it!
Check the URL
Secure websites have an URL that begins with “https” rather than just “http.” If the site does not start with https, do not enter any credit card or other financial information.
Be suspicious of strange emails
If you get a message that appears to be from you bank, credit card company or PayPal, be careful how you open it. If it asks for personal information like passwords or your social security number, discard it. If you are told to click on a link, don’t do it! Doing so could release a “worm” into your system that gives scammers access to your information.
Check your credit card activity
Do this after you’ve finished your Cyber Monday shopping and look for unusual activity. If you find charges for purchases you never made, contact your credit card company immediately and have them removed. The company can also cancel your card and send you another one to stop the illegal activity.
