Roku Offers Black Friday Deal

Many people are now choosing to ditch their high cable bills in order to stream their entertainment content instead. Roku, one of the most well-known streaming devices used today, is enticing a few more people to ditch cable this weekend with a Black Friday deal.

Through Cyber Monday, November 26, Roku is taking $20 off of two of their popular streaming devices.

The Roku 2 XD is selling for $59.99, the same price as Roku’s basic model. The XD allows viewers to choose from more than 500 entertainment channels, plus hundreds of free movies. It works on nearly every television, plays 1080p high-definition video, and has an extended-range wireless network that is Wi-Fi b/g/n compatible.

The Roku 2 XS is also on sale for $20 off, making it $79.99 through Cyber Monday. The XS comes with all of the same features as the XD plus an enhanced RF remote with motion control for games, a free full edition of Angry Birds, an ethernet port, and a USB port.

Roku is capable of streaming content from a wide variety of entertainment providers. Users can watch the latest movies available at Netflix. HBO subscribers can use their HBO GO pass with the box. And the latest network television shows like “Parks and Recreation” and “Modern Family” can be streamed through Hulu Plus.

With the XS, customers can also get instant access to games on their televisions, including Angry Birds, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. Viewers can also stream live sporting events from the NHL, MLB, and more. And music lovers can stream new music through Pandora among other services.

Roku is offering free shipping on its products throughout the sale. While the basic Roku box is not on sale, it also qualifies for free shipping this weekend.

Cyber Monday: $1,000 Off On Samsung TV at Walmart

News about online deals keeps rolling in today. Walmart just announced this morning that November 26 will be its biggest Cyber Monday ever, with discounts of up to $1,000 on select products.

The biggest deal in today’s announcement is for a 55” Samsung 1080p Class LED Smart 3D HDTV. The website will be cutting the price by $1,000 to just $1,498.00, which is one of the few good deals currently advertised for a 3D television this season.

Another great television deal is for a 40” Samsung 1080p Class LED HDTV. Advertised at just $598.00, it represents a total savings of $400.

Rounding out the last three Cyber Monday deals announced today are for an Xbox 360 Skylanders Family Fun Bundle, marked down to just $159.00, a Double Power T-711 with WiFi 7” tablet at a $40-discount, and the Little Tikes Kitchen for $50.

And just like the early Black Friday deals, there won’t be any need to wait another week for some cyber discounts. Walmart’s Cyber Week starts on Saturday, November 24 and lasts through Sunday, December 2. Walmart says that the biggest discounts (including those named above) will still only be available on Cyber Monday, but starting on Saturday they will be revealing new deals every day throughout the week.

Walmart is also giving customers early access to online specials and information for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. To participate, shoppers can sign up for free at walmart.com.

The retailer has already announced that shoppers can log onto walmart.com on Thanksgiving Day for early specials, such as $40 off on an Ematic 7” Tablet Android and $45 off on a DSi XL Ultimate Bundle.

Shipping throughout Walmart’s Cyber Week will be free on select orders of $45 or more.

Which Stores Offer Price-Matching on Black Friday?

Brick and mortar retail stores have a lot of competition vying for customers who could easily do most of their Black Friday shopping online. This rivalry provides a boon for shoppers though because many retailers offer to match prices found through online stores like Amazon, Buy.com, and TigerDirect.

For shoppers looking for price matches during the Black Friday chaos, they can go to Staples, Fry’s Electronics, Home Depot, Lowe’s, J&R, JCPenney, Kohl’s, Meijer, Office Depot, Officemax, and Walmart. But each store has their own rules and exceptions for the offer. The most consumer-friendly offers are being given by Fry’s Electronics, Office Depot, and Staples, which don’t come with too many exclusions. Policies from the other retailers include a series of caveats that should be noted as shoppers prepare for Black Friday.

Target, for example, does offer to match prices on items in-stock at local retailers and some websites. But they will not be matching prices on sales during the Black Friday weekend. Walmart also matches prices but not in the seven days before Thanksgiving. They will offer price-matching again starting the day after Cyber Monday. Sears has a price-matching policy in effect 14 days within an item’s purchase, but it will not be available for products bought between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday.

JCPenney, Kohl’s, and Meijer are offering to match prices on items that are in-stock at local retailers on Black Friday, but not on the prices advertised in special online offers.

The best price-matching offer comes in the home improvement category. Lowe’s and Home Depot are both offering to undercut advertised prices by 10 percent.

Most retailers require to see a competitor’s print ad before matching the price. And shoppers should inquire about specific exclusions prior to purchase.
