This is not the best Cyber Monday ever to get a super deal on a smartphone. Just a few years ago, retailers and carriers were offering the latest phones free or at deeply discounted prices in return for a two-year contract. Alas, those days are gone but some sellers are willing to toss in a free gift card with your purchase and there are decent deals on refurbs and unlocked models that liberate you from two years of payments.
This big box chain is offering a $250 gift card with your purchase of an iPhone 7S. Get a $160 gift card when you buy an iPhone SE. Best Buy is also offering $100 off if you buy and activate an iPhone as well as purchase a set of Beats Solo 3 or Powerbeats 3 at the same time. This offer seems a bit iffy since you might be able to find the headphones cheaper someplace else.
Buy and activate a Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge and get a free Samsung Gear VR headset plus a $250 gift card if you go with AT&T or a $400 gift card for Sprint or Verizon.
Get $120 off and a free wireless charger when you buy an unlocked 32GB Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
Get a $100 Best Buy gift card when you buy and activate a Google Pixel phone with a monthly plan on Verizon.
Get $100 off plus a free battery charger when you buy and activate a Moto X phone with a Verizon monthly plan.
Get $100 off an unlocked Huawei smartphone, now selling for $299.99.
Get the unlocked international version of the Samsung Galaxy S7 for $523.62. Other deals on unlocked phones include the Moto G Plus for $199.99, the 32GB Asus ZenFone for $199, the LG Stylo 2 for $69.99 and the FreedomPop Samsung Galaxy S6 LTE for $799.99 to $139.99. Of course, since this is Amazon, newer deals could pop up at any time.
Get a 15% discount and a free Gear VR headset when you buy and activate a Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge. Plus, you can get a $250 Target gift card with the Samsung Galaxy S7 or a $150 gift card with the S7 Edge.
Get a Samsung Galaxy S7 with no down payment with a monthly contract and trade-in of your old device.
Best Buy stores are a Black Friday/Cyber Monday mainstay, one of the retailers most likely to have deals worth checking out and this year is no exception. The most interesting thing about this Cyber Monday is that Best Buy is undercutting rival Amazon on its own products by matching prices but also offering free shipping on all items without requiring a membership. Hey, competition is fierce out there!
Amazon products that can cost you less at Best Buy include the Echo Dot discounted $10 to $39.99 and the Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote, also discounted $10 from $39.99 to $29.99. Best Buy also has the 7” Fire tablet for $33.33 and the Fire HD 8 for $59.99.
Best Buy is offering a free Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition game with purchase of the PlayStation 4 Slim for $249.99 or the PlayStation Pro for $399.99. The PS4 Slim is discounted $50, making it sell for the same price as at most of the other big box chains, but the PS Pro is full price. Still, you do get a free game at Best Buy. Get a free Select Controller with purchase of the 1TB Xbox One, now discounted $50.
Best Buy doesn’t have any major doorbusters but does have some good prices on popular TVs like the Samsung 55” Curved 4K Ultra HDTV for $699.99, a saving of $300. The Samsung 60” 4K Ultra HD LED TV is discounted $500 to $1,199.99. Save $82 on the Samsung 40” 1080p LED HDTV selling for $247.99 and $50 off the Samsung 49” 4K Ultra HDTV on sale for $749.99.
Get a free $300 Best Buy gift card with purchase and activation of the LG G5 with monthly installment plan from AT&T, Sprint or Verizon. This is a fairly decent deal for this year when smart prices on smartphones are hard to come by.
Get a free $250 Best Buy gift card and Samsung Gear VR headset plus $50 worth of Oculus content with purchase and activation of a Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 edge with monthly installment plan from AT&T, Sprint or Verizon.
Best Buy has plenty more Cyber Monday deals so check their site for everything that’s on sale.
There’s one place you can count on NOT to offer the best Black Friday deals on iPhones, MacBooks and other Apple products: the Apple Store. Even when the tech giant promises a sales “event” the results are less than exciting, like minor discounts on accessories that are already cheaper somewhere else. Here are the best (so far, at least) Cyber Monday deals on the most popular Apple items and where to find them.
Apple Watch – Target
Target is a great place to shop for Apple goodies because they frequently toss in a free gift card. Even without one, the chain has the best price on the Apple Watch Series 1 with prices starting at $198 for the 38mm model and $228 for the 42mm version. Both are available with a variety of colors.
Apple actually has a decent deal on this popular 13.3” MacBook Pro at the full price with a $150 gift card but Best Buy beats that by offering the same model for $100 less upfront – $1,399.00.
Best Buy also has the best price on the 256GB SSD MacBook Air, $999 for a model that Apple sells for $200 more.
Again, Target is the go-to place for getting the lowest price on an iPad Pro – any of them. Prices for the 9.7” model start at $449 for the 32GB model, $549 for 128GB and $649 for 256GB. That’s $150 to $250 off list price.
Best Buy has the best price on the iPad Air 2 with $274, a discount of $125.
Again, Target is the winner with a price of $112.29, a discount of 25% off the list price of $149.99.
Alas, there are no really great deals to be found on iPhones for Cyber Monday but Target is offering a $250 gift card with purchase of an iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus at the regular price. Also, Amazon is currently offering refurbished unlocked models of the 64GB iPhone 6s for $529.99 and 128GB for $679.95.
The Black Friday madness has already started with some chains offering early access to their Black Friday sales. Tech items are always best sellers so here are a few of this year’s hottest Black Friday deals on TVs, tablets, smartphones and more.
The online retail giant is offering discounts on most of it’s most popular products like the Amazon 7” Fire tablet for $33.33, the Echo for $139.99 and the Dot for $39.99. Top-rated VR gaming headsets list priced at $62 are marked down 62% to $25. Sales on video games will be rotating all day Friday.
This big box retailer is cutting $125 off all 9.7” iPads and $200 off some MacBooks. One hot in-store-only deal is Beats by Dr. Dre PowerBeats 2 regularly priced at $200 on sale for $90. Another buy worth going into the store for is Bose SoundSport In-Ear Headphones list priced at $100 on sale for $40. A third in-store deal is the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 128GB bundle with keyboard discounted from $1,000 to $600.
This online tech retailer is offering LG 49” and 65” UH6030 4K TVs for $400 and $800, respectively.
The brand’s site has a wide selection of TVs on sale but the best deal of the batch is the 65” KS9800 regularly priced at $6,000 on sale for $3,000.
This chain is the go-to spot for tech deals like up to $151 off iPads, $72 off iPads and up to $502 off Samsung TVs. The Xbox One S 500GB console Battlefield One or Minecraft bundle is discounted $50 to $249.99 plus the deal includes a $40 Target gift card. One deal is in-store-only but it’s pretty tempting: A Samsung 55” 4K Curved Smart Ultra HDTV with a list price of $1,100 on sale for $698 – with a $70 Target gift card included.
Another hot spot for all things tech, this mega chain has all Samsung TVs on sale and Apple and Samsung smartphones for $0 down with an AT&T or Verizon contract plus a $250 gift card in included.
If you have one particular item on your Black Friday shopping list, it’s a good idea to check several sites all day to see if there’s a flash sale. If you’re not finding just what you want at the price you want, there’s always Cyber Monday!
Even if you flatly refuse to tear yourself away from the family Turkey Day feast, you can still score some pretty cool deals this Thursday. Many retailers that will be opening their stores on Thanksgiving will also offer the same or comparable Doorbuster Deals online. Here are five chains offering deals worth checking out on Thanksgiving.
OK, your local Superstore may be the last place you want to be on Thanksgiving Day, when Walmart will opens at 6 p.m. but the online deals start even earlier – at 12 a.m. Thursday morning. That means you can score a great deal on electronics while stuffing the turkey and never have to risk getting into a fist fight over the last big-screen TV in the store. Some of the better deals include a 55” Phillips Class Smart 4K TV for $298, a Roku Espress Plus for $25 and a Samsung Chromebook 3 for $119.
This retail chain promises “thousands of deals” for Black Friday but 16 of the most tempting are available online now so you don’t have to wait for stores to open at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving. The online action starts at 12 a.m. and Best Buy is holding out these Doorbusters for the big day: a Toshiba 49” 4K Ultra HDTV for $199.99, the Amazon 16GB Fire Tablet for $59.99 and Powerbeats2 Wireless Headphones for $89.99.
The best thing about Kohl’s Black Friday sale is that it starts on Monday, November 21 and runs until 1 p.m. on Friday. The in-store sale begins at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving. Hot items available online Monday include a Haier 49” 4K Ultra HDTV plus $75 in Kohl’s Cash for $349.99, a Fitbit Alta special edition fitness band for $99.99 and 50% off name brand toys.
The Thanksgiving fun starts at 6 p.m. in-stores and online for Target but there are several hot deals available now and until November 24. These include a Samsung 55” 4K Motion Rate 120 Curved Smart Ultra HDTV with a free $75 Target gift card for $697.99, an XBox One S console bundle with free $40 Target gift card for $249.99 and 50% off life-sized figurine toys including Star Wars.
The deals aren’t very exciting at this discount retailer but it’s going to be the place to outfit the family for winter and the house for the holidays. Kmart opens for Thanksgiving in-store and online at 7 p.m. with a BOGO deal on family footwear, 50% off Christmas supplies and select DVDs and Blu-rays for $1 each. “Thanksgiving Night Doorbusters” will be good from the time stores open until 2 p.m. on Black Friday.
Best Buy can always be counted on for killer Black Friday deals and the current ad flyers are packed with them. The chain released a mammoth 80-page ad last week and just added a 20-page flyer with even more doorbusters and special deals. Here are a few to look for.
Games and Consoles
The one deal that really stands out is the combo of a 55” Toshiba Smart 4K UHD TV with a PS4 Pro bundle for $749.98, a saving of $200. This is like a one-stop dream machine for the avid gamer and if you buy this, you’ll never have to leave the house again – until the credit card bill comes in January and you have to go to work.
The other game bundles are the same ones the other big box chains have: Xbox One S Minecraft bundle for $249.99, PS4 Uncharted 4 bundle for $249.99 (Best Buy does throw in two free games) and Nintendo 3DS for $99.
All the national chains have Black Friday sales on big screen TVs but Best Buy has some really, really big TV like the 75” Sony Smart 4K UHD TV for $2,499.98, a discount of $800. If that’s just a bit too big for your wall (or your budget) there’s a 70” Vizio 4K UHD TV with built-in Chromecast for $999.99, a saving of $300. Best Buy also has TVs in every other size and price range going down to a 24” LG TV for $79.99.
Alas, gone are the days when every Black Friday ad was full of free smartphone deals with a two-year contract. This year Best Buy is offering a gift card up to $250 if your buy an iPhone 7 with an installment billing agreement from AT&T, Sprint or Verizon. There’s a $349.99 bundle of the Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge purchased with a plan from AT&T, Sprint or Verizon that includes a $250 Best Buy gift card and free VR headset.
At Best Buy you can save $125 on any 9.7 iPad Pro or $100 on the 16GB 10.1” Galaxy Tab A that’s now $199.99. Save $30 on the 16GB 8” Amazon Fire HD tablet now $59.99.
Save $200 on the Garmin Fenix 3 HR, now selling for $399.99. Save $50 on Apple Watch Series 1 models starting at $219. The Garmin Vivoactive HR is discounted $80 to $169.99.
Best Buy stores will open at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and remain open until 1 a.m. Then the stores will reopen at 8 a.m. for Black Friday with the same deals available online.
