Schwinn Bikes is known throughout the bicycling industry for their high-quality, durable and practical designs; essentially, Schwinn is known by many as a brand that can be trusted.
Many Schwinn fans were surprised when the company’s Twitter account (@RideSchwinn) started falling further and further away from the topic of Schwinn bicycles, or even bicycling at all.
An update dated January 3rd 2012 provides a useful link to a website allowing Schwinn owners to find out what year their Schwinn is; another on January 4th 2012 links to the New York Times Biking Travel Guide.
Starting on January 31st 2012, highly promotional Tweets began appearing on the Schwinn Twitter account; many having very little to do with Schwinn bikes or bicycling at all.
On January 31st 2012 a tweet from the company says that you should “bring along some @SpecialKUS cereal bars on this week’s ride. They’ll keep you happy and satisfied.”
A tweet on February 6t 2012 states: “Don’t forget sunscreen (even in the winter) when taking your @RideSchwinn out for a ride! @Dr.LewinnbyKinerase has a great SPF Lotion!”
A Schwinn representative could not be reached for comment.
