Leighton Meester Joins Vera Wang for Charity
These days, Leighton Meester is as well known for her Lovestruck perfume ads as for her role on “Gossip Girl.” The 25-year-old actress has been the face of the Vera Wang fragrance since its launch in 2011. Now Wang is availing herself of Meester’s services again, this time for a good cause. Wang is joining Katharina Harf of DKMS Americas to raise both money and awareness for bone marrow transplants.
Wang has designed a T-shirt bearing the slogan “Share the Love” which Macy’s stores will be giving away as a gift-with-purchase for buying $78 of merchandise from the Lovestruck fragrance collection, starting March 28. Meester will appear in the ads for the program, along with 19-year-old Kerri Mullen, whose young life was saved by a bone marrow transplant from a DKMS donation.
Meester explained her involvement in the project, “‘Share the love’ is an altruistic idea of love — it’s about giving the gift of life to a stranger.”
This is not Meester’s first charitable venture. In 2008, the actress took part in Sunsilk’s “Life Can’t Wait” campaign to raise awareness about and prevent domestic violence.
Wang is having a very busy spring, since she is also debuting her new line of affordable cosmetics and skin treatments at Kohl’s stores.
